The North Pole Summer Festival will be held this year on Saturday, July 3, 2010. The theme is "Celebrating Tomorrow Today". The fun starts at 8:00 a.m. with a pancake feed at Santa's Senior Center on 5th Ave with a pre-parade "Elf Run",a short 5k fun run. The race starts at Santa Claus House and ends at Santaland RV Park.
At 10:00 a.m. is the Kids' Bike Decorating Contest and parade set-up which will start at First Baptist Church parking lot with the parade starting promptly at 11:00 a.m. The parade will wind its way through North Pole starting on 5th Ave, right onto Santa Claus Lane, and then righ on to S. Nicholas Drive.
The "Midway" will start at 12 noon where there is food and games for everyone. Hourly door prizes will be given away at the top of the hour and you must be present to win! There will be a greased pole climb, bed races, and a Gand Prize drawing at the end of the day. Again, you must be present to win. For more information call Mayor Doug Isaacson at 488-8584. PLAN NOW TO PARTICIPATE AND ATTEND THE NORTH POLE SUMMER FESTIVAL! On Saturday, July 3, 2010, the premier early summer event happens in North Pole. This year's theme is, "Celebrating Tomorrow Today!" In the past few years, the event has attracted between 3000 and 5000 people and has been growing each year. We expect record attendance due to exciting new features such as the pre-parade "Elf Run--a 'short' 5K", the North Pole Princess contest for girls ages 5-10, a host of new games for children and teens, and entertainment featuring out-of-town bands. The 5K will traverse the parade route in places, the parade--with over 100 floats and participants--follows 5th Avenue to Santa Clause Lane and along St. Nicholas. Prizes are awarded for different float categories as well as for the children’s Bike Decorating Contest. Prizes are also awarded during the Greased Pole Climb, the Bed Race, and the new North Pole Princess Contest. Midway activities include over 50 vendors that have food, games, entertainment and more. Various prizes are also awarded on the hour at the same time as promotional recognition is given to sponsors and donors. The Midway activities take place at North Pole Elementary School. This year's activities may also include a live remote that will draw more traffic in throughout the day. The station being used is still under negotiation. We are soliciting large ticket items that "you must be present to win" that will be given away at the end of the day, encouraging maximum participation and fun all day long.
