Let’s brighten up North Pole this holiday season.

THE CONTEST IS OVER.... FIND WINNERS HERE http::// www.npedc.com !!

The City of North Pole and North Pole Economic Development Corporation are teaming up to recognize our neighbors who decorate in style for the holidays.

Qualifying displays must be visible from the street, and must show creativity in their presentation. The use of LED lights in displays is encouraged.
Displays should be completed and illuminated beginning 6 p.m. December 5th. Entries will be judged beginning the evening of December 5th, and throughout the following week. Winners will be announced Monday, December 14th. Yard signs will be provided for all winners in recognition of their achievement.

Special promotion will take place throughout the month of December to “come see the lights” and therefore entrants are strongly encouraged to leave their displays illuminated every evening from 4 p.m. to 10 a.m. through January 3rd, 2010 to coincide with other Holiday Events taking place throughout the city.

To register your home for the 2009 Holiday Lighting Contest, please fill out the following form and return to North Pole City Hall no later than 5 p.m. December 4th. Additional forms are available at North Pole City Hall or online at www.npedc.com.

Welcome to the City of North Pole

As Mayor of North Pole and on behalf of the City Council and every resident, I invite you to take the ten mile drive southeast of Fairbanks to the City of North Pole, “Where the Spirit of Christmas Lives Year Round”.  North Pole is a scenic small town of approximately 2,099 people that serves as the commercial hub of the “Greater North Pole” area of over 30,000 residents.

ImageWe are a growing community with strong links to today’s military, being situated between Ft. Wainwright , home to 12,000 troops and the nation’s premier 1/25th SBCT, and Eielson AFB , home to 7,000 dedicated airmen of the 354th Fighter Wing and the 168th Air Refueling Wing of the Air National Guard.

We are also a primary energy center for Alaska being home to two oil refineries and the largest electricity producing generator in the Interior of Alaska (Santa has to power his sleigh, you know!)

Driving through North Pole, in any season, you will see why we capture the imaginations of visitors to our great state. When you visit North Pole, you’ll experience great outdoor venues, highly charged youth sports and arts activities, friendly faces and pleasant conversations with friends you just meet in the local stores, year-round  Christmas decorations, and street names and light poles that reflect our motto, and now Santa Claus Lane boasts three beautiful traffic circles within a quarter mile—certainly an experience for the record books!

No visit to North Pole would be complete without a stop at the world famous Santa Claus House.  As an extra treat, mail your postcards from our U.S. Post Office (Santa’s Zip Code is 99705!) so that friends and family can receive mail postmarked from North Pole, Alaska.  And be sure to enjoy a meal—at any time of the day—at one of our more than 20 restaurants with menus from around the world, I’m sure we’ll satisfy almost any culinary desire you have.

Again, welcome! Come visit North Pole!  And remember, Santa knows who’s been naughty or nice!

Sincerely,

Douglas W. Isaacson, Mayor
